Paintings Use Art & Science to Explore Cancer

PICColina founder Katie Murphy often turned to art to express what she was experiencing on her journey through cancer.  Now she has decided to take a deeper look at the disease through a series of paintings she is doing as part of her Junior year studies at Chapman University. Motivated by her first-hand experience with cancer, the artistic journey is through the eyes of a young woman interested in the science behind cancer and how it develops within the body.  Her research behind these paintings has been a new journey for Katie toward understanding how our knowledge of cancer has evolved over time.  She hopes these images will inspire others to learn more about the subject and to become involved in supporting cancer treatments and ultimately, helping to find a cure.
